Lorna Simpson (born 1960) has been described as "a force to be reckoned with" and has become one of the most closely watched conceptual artists working today. Over the years, one-person exhibitions of her work have been organized by the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Connecticut, and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. Simpson participated in the 1990 Venice Biennale and the 1991 Whitney Biennial.
